Start with What You Know
or
Go Back to the Last Point at Which You Were Certain
One of the concepts of great value that came out of our most recent Dolce Mia Designer Sales Rep Conference Call is Start With What You Know. The idea is simple, and can also be expressed as Go Back to the Last Point At Which You Were Certain. If you are feeling stuck, or unable to start, or simply unsure of how to apply your efforts, take a step back, regroup, and return to What You Know—the immutable facts of your Dolce Mia product line and business.
Your own What You Know’s will include what you’ve learned from personal experience, or gleaned from the notes-from-the-field of other reps on the Sales Rep Forum. For all reps, however, whether you are experienced or just starting out, these are two of the central facts of your Dolce Mia business that are always worth returning to.
What You Know #1: Everyone Who Tries Dolce Mia Loves It.
What You Know #2: You Control How You Sell.
Our #1 is perhaps your greatest asset as a Dolce Mia rep. You are representing a highly desirable line. People often comment to us, “The line sells itself.” As any experienced rep knows, a more accurate statement would be “The line responds to being sold.” Any time you can get yourself and your product into the flow of consumers, where they can try and buy, you will sell product. But you can’t get the most out of the day by sitting behind your table. Get out, engage, invite them over, and get some product on their hands.
Which brings us to #2, You Control How You Sell. Dolce Mia offers more flexibility than any other company in ways to sell. For you that means you can choose, and change, your focus at any time. If you are feeling stuck, or having trouble getting started, ask yourself, Is my “way to sell” one that gets my product out into the flow of consumers in the most effective way? Is my Way to Sell getting Dolce Mia onto people’s hands? Because you know from #1, that’s all it takes.
There are many more What You Know’s, and as your business grows, you will find yourself going back to What You Know’s that may not be as basic as the examples used here, but the principle holds true no matter what phase you are in or how large or small your business is. And not only is it good for your business health, it is good for your mental health too. Go Back to the Last Point at Which You Were Certain offers meditative respite, a point of collection, reflection, and chance to build up your power reserves, to feel good about your choices, your accomplishments, and your Dolce Mia business.
